Homesick at Home

I'm sitting here in the kitchen of family's home, realizing very quickly that in two days' time, I'm not going to have all the little luxuries of home when I move to the city this weekend. Gone will be the ample space to move around indoors, away will wash the gallons of iced tea that have already been sweetened. And, perhaps most significantly of all, the washer and dryer that I now enjoy free of charge will be left behind.

But I couldn't be happier about the changes.

I've wanted to live in New York City since I was a child, and I'm really excited that I'm finally getting the chance to do just that. I dream about New York the way some people dream about Paris or Rome - to me, it's exactly what a city should be: congestion, culture, noise and all.

I don't think I've set myself up to be disappointed. New York offers far too much for me to ever be bored, and has way too many different people and places to meet and explore that I really will learn something new every day.

But for now, I'm just sitting in my kitchen, waiting to see if the city really is everything I hope it will be. I'm looking forward to being able to say whether or not it does.

No tips today, although I do encourage everyone to go to Ed's Welcome to the City Party next Wednesday. I look forward to seeing you there! Though, of course, you won't know I'm the Trade Intern.

Have a great night interns! More tomorrow.
